Acrylics, Portland Maine 1986-91

I made many attempts to paint in Acrylics over this five year Period in Portland. Some of these were direct from life at PSA, USM and my studio, but I generally found the paints dried too quickly for me to be able to make the manipulations I wanted to make, while remaining too wet for me to be able to transport safely home at the end of the session. I sometimes tried to convert watercolours where I had a good drawing, but the application of paint had gone awry, to acrylics later in my studio and some of these nearly worked. To this day, I do not feel competant with acrylics though I now tend to use them to do a rapid underpainting when trying to paint ala prima oils from life.
