Compressed Charcoal & Chalk Sketches, Stokes Croft, Bristol, 2011-2

In 2011 I rented a studio behind a bike shop on Stokes Croft in Bristol. I worked there mostly with professional paid models. I sometimes drew in compressed charcoal, chalk or pastels on 30” by 40” sheets of paper cut from rolls. Some of this was brown floor lining paper and some wall lining paper. I was trying to restore my skills after a long period of doing very little drawing, but I didn’t want to spend too much on materials until I felt that my lost skills were being restored to me. These were 5 minute to 20 minute poses.
